First Month Trading Stocks - Up 17% - Learn to Invest with Me
Learn to Invest in the Stock Market with Me
Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve spent the majority of my early career investing my time and cashflow back into my business rather than in long-term investments. But now that I’m in my 30s, its time to start thinking seriously about the future.
I’ve dabbled in the stock market in the past, but I’ve never kept money in consistently because needs always arose in my business that required the cash.
Thankfully, the business has become more profitable, and I’m finally confident that I’ll be able to leave money in the market and make regular contributions to the account each month.
Strategy for Investing my First $566 in the Market
I started this month with the rather odd figure of $566. I will be making regular weekly contributions, but I’m not sure exactly how much those will be (I’ll update you in future progress reports).
As an investment novice, my starting strategy will be to “trust the experts.” I’ll put the majority of my money into stocks that are recommended by analysts and have a track record of long success.
A minority of my money will be invested in companies that excite me, maybe a bit riskier, but companies that still come highly recommended. These will be companies that are developing the technologies of the future and whose products interests me personally.
What Trading Platform Am I Using?
My trading platform of choice will be Robinhood. I don’t know if Robinhood is the best platform, I haven’t compared. What I will say is that Robinhood makes it easy to start a new account and to access their platform overseas.
Which Stocks Did I Buy?
I mainly stuck to well-known companies this first month, here is a sample of the stocks I bought and sold:
Amazon - AMZN
NVIDIA - NVDA
Archer Aviation - ACHR
Vanguard S&P 500 ETF - VOO
Reddit - RDDT
Alphabet Class A & C - GOOGL
Coca-Cola - KO
D-Wave Quantum - QBTS
Many of the stocks were bought and sold several times during the month.
How Did I do in my First Month Trading Stocks?
Call it beginners luck, I do… I did surprisingly well my first month. At the time of writing, my account sits at $664.95, representing a return of 17.31%
I began purchasing these stocks around May 30th, 2025.
Monthly Tracking and Updates
I plan to do a monthly update, documenting the gain/loss of the portfolio, new stock purchases, and lessons I’m learning along the way.
I suspect I’ll diversify even more with future stock purchases. I’m interested in learning more about dividend stocks and cryptocurrency.
What is my Trading Strategy?
I don’t want to get ahead of myself. The strategy I’m currently employing worked this month, but I’m not certain it will work in the upcoming months. As I said, it may have just been beginners luck or an easy month on the market.
If the strategy continues to succeed, I’ll begin sharing it in future updates.
